Introducing: iB4the1.1 from iLL-Literacy

FINALLY it’s here. My boys at iLL-Literacy (Drizzletron, N.I.C. & Dahlak) released their debut EP today marking another step in what has been an incredible year for them. From doing a tour with the Hi-Lifes, showcasing at SXSW, making the transition to Brooklyn, NY to dropping their EP - it has been an incredible ride for these guys and I couldn’t be any happier for them.

The album itself, “iB4the1.1” is an epic within itself. Featuring collaborations with Passion, Smashley Johns, Rufus Redbone, Billy Hi-Life, Ruby Veridiano-Ching & others. This project is a only a small example of how they flawlessly blend their roots in spoken word, as well as influences from funk, soul, afro-beat and other things in this world that make you stand up, bob your head, dance, dig for dinosaurs… etc.

I’ve been unbeleiveably blessed to work with iLL-Lit from 2007-2009 and I’ve witnessed them grow immeasurably from then until now. iLL-Literacy has always stayed on the forefront of innovation in spoken word, but with the release of their first EP, they are a force to be reckoned with in the music scene.

…and it’s only just the beginning. Congratulations, iLL-Literacy. There are no words that could describe how proud I am of you.
